Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were notified by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
